The Why Behind the Reroute from God

To the natural mind, God-rerouting doesn’t make sense. It may seem as if God is leading us into one more seemingly impossible situation, rather than bringing us closer to our destination.

If you didn't read last weeks blog post about the children of Israel—go back and read it for context. For the children of Israel, God's rerouting didn't make sense. I can imagine the doubts and uncertainty that went through their minds when they realized they were trapped between

the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army.

But God told them: stand still and watch Me move. If we simply stand still and trust Him in the process, we will see miracles happen in our lives and in the lives of others. And that’s just it. Rerouting can simply mean that God is directing you to a certain place so that you, and others, can see the miraculous hand of God in your life.

He wants you to experience His power and provision in fresh ways. This situation, this season, is the perfect place for Him to do it.

He wants to reveal who He is to your life in deep, meaningful ways. He wants you to see for yourself what He can do.

Rerouting could mean that God needs to teach you some things along the journey. He wants to work on your character and He knows if He got you to the destination too soon, your character wouldn’t be strong enough to sustain it.

He wants to work patience in your heart and weave a deep trust into your spirit. He wants to teach you how to be kind along the journey and release everything into His hands. He wants to enlarge your faith so that you will have strength on the journey ahead.

Sometimes rerouting means that God wants you to pick up some precious treasures along the journey. Maybe there’s a person in this season of life that you need for the next season you are entering into. If you weren’t currently in this time and this place, then you would never have met them. On the journey ahead, they will be strategic in fulfilling your destiny.

Rerouting could open your eyes to the fact that God simply wants you to enjoy the journey. He takes you on the scenic route instead of the most direct route. So that all along the journey, as you look out your window, you see the beauty and blessing that God has surrounded you with. Distractions dissipate and each mile you travel serves as a reminder of who your God is.

And honestly, sometimes rerouting from God means that He has more for you than you could possibly imagine. Yes, the road you are on now is good, but He has a more deeply fulfilling, life-giving route in mind. Maybe your destination isn’t the final destination He has in mind for your life and you’ve barely scratched the surface of His great plan for you.

The only way you will access it is to allow Him to guide and direct you. To scrap your planned route and follow His instead.

I want to have courage for God to reroute my plans and download His route for my life. I want to hold what He has given me with open hands and not cling to my plan for dear life. I want God to have full access as my driver and destination planner. I want to enjoy the journey, no matter what route He takes me on. I want to trust His guidance and that He has my best interest at heart. God, grant me the courage to allow you to reroute my life based on Your direction. Wherever You take me is the best place I could ever be.
