I Can Hear You

I can't believe I get to hear the voice of God. For those of you reading for the first time I have been talking weekly about "I can't believe" moments, blessings that when I sit down and write about my heart wells up with thankfulness.

If you've ever wondered personally if you can discern the voice of God for your life I'd love to direct you to Psalm 29 this week. Many times in many seasons I've wondered, "God is that really you speaking to my heart?"

Without clarity, I'd remain stuck. Transfixed. Unable to move. Reasoning all the while whether to move forward with what I think is God's command or retreat back to what I deemed as normal.

Reading Psalm 29 this week brought new insight to my heart, directed toward the voice of God. Reading it's words commenced numerous soul stirring ah-hah moments, reverberating into my subconscious—reaching every cob-webbed corner of obscurity and bringing beautiful clarity.

Above all, know this: when God speaks, you will know it. He has a way of getting our attention.

There's no way not to, really. Listen to what the Bible says in Psalm 29. I've researched many versions and here are some take-aways:

"The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea.

It is powerful.

The voice of the Lord is majestic.

It splits the mighty cedars.

The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lighting.

It makes the barren wilderness quake.

The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks.

It makes the deer give birth."

The same voice that splits the mighty cedars, strikes bolts of lighting, makes the earth quake and causes the deer to give birth is the same voice that is speaking to you and I today.

So many times we pray to discern the will of God as if He is playing a hide-and-seek game with us in reference to His will. That is not the case whatsoever! God speaks. He speaks clearly to our hearts through His word and through circumstances and people He brings our way. If He is wanting to give you direction, trust me, you'll hear Him. He has ways of getting our attention.

Don't be afraid you'll miss His voice this holiday season. Trust your instincts. If you are seeking His will and spending time with Him, He will reveal His will to you. I find the hard part is not hearing His direction, it's actually believing Him and responding in obedience—there-in lies the true joy and peace our hearts are yearning for. Walking in utter trust and obedience to God, even when we don't understand His leading. Believing with all-in faith that His best is before us.

"May your holiday season be filled with many "I can't believe I get to" moments when it comes to hearing the voice of your Father. He loves you desperately and wants to show you the way you are to go."
