A Secret Treasure: Part Three

The last treasure of generosity is found in the word freely. Voluntarily. Willingly. "Freely you have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8)." When you receive, you receive with open hands. When you give, you give with open hands. Freely.

We all must realize that God is the owner of every aspect of our lives; we are simply daughters who steward. Beautiful women who look after and manage well that which has been given to us.

Be thankful for what you have. Don’t look to others wishing you had what they have, use freely what He has given you to bless others. When we have a right perspective on what we have, it helps us cultivate a “freely” mentality.

Instead of God trying to pry our hands open to use what He’s given us to bless others, we offer it freely, understanding it’s His to begin with.

I liken it to me just gifting my daughter with a giant pack of Skittles. She is so excited. I see her happiness beaming from her face, until I tell her to share a couple with her sisters. You’d think I’d just ask her to give her sister a kidney. She has an entire pack of Skittles that I blessed her with, but she can’t share ten with her sisters.

I literally have to go over to her and pry the bag from her hands, take the ten Skittles and distribute them to her sisters.

Isn’t this the way we act sometimes with God when He asks us to give to others?

But how much more amazing would it be if when I asked my daughter to share with her sisters, she gave willingly, freely, with a great attitude because she just loved sharing what I gave to her? How much more apt would I be to give her more if that was the kind of attitude she displayed? I’d give her twenty packs of Skittles!

If we freely give of what we have, God will be gracious to bless us with more.

So what is it that God is asking you to freely receive from Him today? Days of feeling unworthy are behind you. That can't hinder you anymore. You are worthy, so freely receive. What is it that He is asking you to give today? Days of feeling as if you have nothing to give are over. You are surrounded by a richness in God that can be freely given to others today.

"Developing a "freely" attitude toward God will undoubtedly lead you to places you couldn't possibly imagine and fulfillment beyond your wildest dreams."
